Chasing The Blood Moon

By 11th Nov 2020May 24th, 2021Watch Wednesday

I dream in Setswana some days. Today is one of those because Botswana has announced the opening of its borders to scheduled airline and private charter arrivals after 10 months in isolation. The numbers of infections are low, the protocols established, and their skies already open.

Some time ago, we announced preferential partnership deals for those guests requiring global private charters. Right now, we can help anyone with private or scheduled air travel arrangements from anywhere in the world to Botswana and Kenya.

Our conservation initiatives in Botswana have continued, and when lockdown started, we asked some of our staff to switch over to front line conservation duties. As a result, we’ve been very successful in protecting what we have in our areas.

As you know, we committed to bringing 100 rhinos under the Rhinos Without Borders initiative to Botswana. As of yesterday, taking all those we flew in (some by helicopter!) the incredible batch of calves they gave us and deducting any deaths (both natural and poached), we can proudly say that we’ve increased the population through this project alone, by 121 rhinos!

This short film speaks to that initiative.

To celebrate this and the reopening of Botswana, we are pleased to announce the release of our latest book on this subject, Rhinos Without Borders (Chasing the Blood Moon)a journey spanning the five years of our project that so many of you have supported.

In the spirit of our Keeping the Dream Alive, a percentage of our book’s profits, ordered here, will go to rhino conservation.

We want to offer a free, signed book to the first 5 books sold. When ordering your copy, enter the following coupon “D&Bfirstfive” at the time of check out to see if you are one of the first to receive your copy for free!

We still need support to monitor the rhinos for a few years, and keeping them safe is our major priority right now.

Our camps, like SelindaDuba Explorers Camp, and Duba Plains, are ready to welcome you as Botswana reopens its borders. Feel free to take advantage of our current green season special rates and long stay offers. Coincidentally we want to let you know that we have just extended our Green Season rates all the way to the end of March 2022! Contact our friendly reservations team for assistance here.

As you plan your safari adventure to Great Plains, I reaffirm my promise to you of our great hospitality combined with that warm welcome that is in the African DNA.

Keep your Botswana Dream Alive
