David Rogers has been leading photographing tours and workshops since 2005 and visits our properties with clients who travel with him year after year. David is particularly interested in landscapes and photographing animals in their natural environments and also enjoys photographing food, lodges and just about everything else. David serves as a photographic guide on trips helping his clients to unlock their potential as photographers and also introducing them to the art of post production.
David was born in Cape Town and went to school at Bishops. His career started in the 1980s when he qualified as an environmental scientists from University of Cape Town with majors in English and Environmental Science. He had always loved photography through school and university and combined his talents as a journalist and photographer for Reader’s Digest Special Books in Cape Town. He went on to become assistant editor at Getaway magazine where he worked for seven years and won numerous awards for writing and photography.
David went freelance in 2000 — the same year he married his wife Jenni Saunders — and become a major contributor to Africa Geographic writing articles and also seven books in their Safari in Style series where he photographed lodges and landscapes throughout Southern Africa, East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. David has written more than 10 other books including Zambia Landscapes and Living Landscapes of Southern Africa.
David still writes and photographs for several magazines. In addition to leading photographic trips, he still as a commercial photographer specialising in safari lodges, architecture and food.
