Every year, the plains of East Africa are home to Kenya’s Great Migration.
More than a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelle, tracked by Africa’s great predators, can be viewed right on your doorstep.
Occurring annually between July and October, Kenya’s Maasai Mara Reserve and the adjacent private conservancies are home to this natural phenomenon.
Spend the whole day out with a packed lunch to avoid missing any of the action, and be sure to have your cameras ready to capture an incredible river crossing. In these private conservancies, you can experience the herds of antelope without the crowds typically found in the public Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Our camps are home not only to the Great Migration but also to a second migration! This zebra migration is Kenya’s best-kept wildlife secret.
Guests who cannot travel during the annual wildebeest or Great Migration should not be concerned.
Each year between late November and June, more than 200,000 zebras move from the Loita Plains to the Maasai Mara, traversing the Naboisho, Olare Motorogi and Mara North Conservancies, home to Mara Nyika Camp, Mara Expedition Camp, Mara Plains Camp and Mara Toto Tree Camp. This means that for almost 95% of the year, the Great Plains camps in the Maasai Mara are at the heart of one of these wildlife migration paths!
