The Camp

Mara Plains Camp sits on the edge of the iconic Maasai Mara, nestled in a lush forest on the meandering bends of the Ntiakitiak River. This luxury safari camp in Kenya offers guests rare access to both the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy and the Masai Mara National Reserve. Exquisite design meets unmatched big cat viewing, with just seven canvas suites suspended on wooden decks above the savannah. This camp is a haven for photographers, adventurers, and those seeking the epitome of Kenya luxury safaris.

Conservation fees are paid to safeguard this habitat while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families. This partnership agreement ensures the survival of an astounding volume and variety of wildlife.

Each suite, raised up on recycled railway sleeper decking, offers accents of East Africa’s rich safari history with deep canvas canopied ceilings and well-appointed en-suite facilities, including a deep copper bath and extensive private verandah, complete a stunning and unique safari camp concept.

Each suite has a professional camera and a selection of lenses for your complimentary use. At the end of your safari stay with us, your wildlife images and video footage is downloaded as our gift to you to take home.

High-quality binoculars are available for you to use while with us at Mara Plains Camp.

More Details

The above rates are in US$ and are based on a per person per night sharing basis. Single guest, child rates, private safari drive and guide rates are available on request.

The rates are fully inclusive of accommodation, all national park and reserve conservation fees, scheduled wildlife viewing activities in the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Olare Motorogi, park fees, all meals, laundry service, return Olare Motorogi airstrip road transfers, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages including premium brand spirits and champagne.

Return scheduled seat in plane air transfers from Nairobi Wilson or properties in the greater Maasai Mara region to this camp are automatically included in the full nightly rate – subject to a minimum 2-night stay. Where air transfers are from properties located outside of these routings, the standard applicable flying costs will apply.

Safari Experiences

The private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, where Mara Plains Camp is located, is known to have the lowest vehicle density in Kenya’s Maasai Mara region while also having the highest concentration of big cats anywhere in Africa.

Mara Plains Camp is a sanctuary for resident wildlife species, including many of the Maasai Mara’s 300 bird species.

After dark, larger mammals frequent the camp, and Maasai warriors escort guests to and from their rooms. Hippos snorting and leopards barking often provide the night’s chorus.

Mara Plains Camp showcases Africa’s magnificent wildlife. We believe in keeping the safari experience intimate and personal, so there is no set camp schedule or mealtimes.

The Olare Motorgi Conservancy lies on the northern boundary of Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. Guests of Mara Plains Camp and its 2-bedroomed Jahazi Suite at Mara Plains have access to wildlife viewing in this private conservancy, as well as the Masaai Mara National Reserve.
