Welcome to Mara Expedition Camp

“Mara Expedition Camp is positioned in a grove of typical East African acacia trees overlooking a valley in the Maasai Mara Reserve.

This camp tells the story of early-day explorers with touches of campaign furniture and open-air space under a light-coloured canvas. It is on private land, so very exclusive, but it offers affordable Kenya safari opportunities and access to some of the region’s best wildlife. It is an ideal camp to start your Kenya safari, looking for big cats like cheetahs and lions. Most days, you don’t even have to go very far!”

Mara Expedition Camp is a magical revisiting of the past, drawing from Africa’s original explorers’ designs and designed for those who search for East Africa’s romantic safari era. It is safari chic with five light and airy, spacious canvas tents, plus one 2-bedroom family tent. The camp is set down low, hidden from lights and noise from other camps or properties or any sign of mankind.

Experience the intense action of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, including two migrations (the Serengeti migration and the green season migration) with an additional 50,000 wildebeest and 100,000 zebras, from the comfort of the swimming pool or outdoor seating area lit up by fire.

While most explorations take place in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Mara Expedition Camp also enjoys access to the Mara North Conservancy for occasional drives in a more exclusive setting.

Under the grove of African acacia trees, its humble main area is lit by lanterns and candles, simple in design but just enough for all the comforts. The unique swimming pool is perfect to refresh and recharge during the warm summer days, and an interactive kitchen is an exciting pre-meal activity, allowing you to dive deep into the minds of our extraordinary chefs.

Conservation Roots: Planting Indigenous Trees for habitat restoration, climate change resilience and food security

Planting trees is now a well-known strategy for the health of the planet. Our Conservation Roots program has planted indigenous trees across Kenya, Botswana, and Zimbabwe for years. The purpose of the replanting varies across the regions and ranges from habitat restoration, riverbank strengthening, community food security and shade. The program has a deep-rooted educational aspect, working closely with local community schools on the value of protecting trees and nature. We all need to give the planet’s lungs a second chance, and we encourage you to join us by planting a tree during your stay.
