The accommodation includes 11 exquisite private villas immersed in lush, tropical vegetation, each one built entirely from local materials harvested during the island’s reclamation process. With 201 hectares of island paradise to “eat, pray love”, guests can indulge in various epicurean experiences and activities. Some of the dining options include anything from a personalized Takamaka Rum tasting, a candlelit dinner under the stars, a light lunch by the pool, champagne and canapés around a bonfire, a popcorn date night, a local Creole curry for the whole family, or a romantic in-villa dinner. Each meal is a surprise waiting to unfold.
A conservation success story, North Island preserves nature through ecotourism. Over the last five years, the custodians have planted an estimated 20,000 indigenous and endemic plants. Today, almost 30% of the island’s surface has undergone some degree of rehabilitation. Guests can participate in conservation activities, supporting various projects like patrolling the beach to locate nesting sea turtles, planting indigenous trees, or becoming a patron of one of the island’s youngest Aldabra giant tortoises.

North Island in the Seychelles has its very own “celebrity” Aldabra giant tortoise named Brutus, who is believed to be 209 years old and weighs about 200 kg (450 lbs). To protect him from accidents at night, reflective strips were added to his shell, as he often naps on the island’s paths which guests explore by golf cart!
Guests of North Island can choose from a rich list of a minimal impact activities without ever leaving the beautiful, lush island. The activities on offer are designed to allow our guests to enjoy the island and its magic, either under guidance from one of the staff, or alone. Guests have the freedom to move around the Island at their own pace, either on foot, on bicycles, or by island buggies. Other experiences include diving, snorkeling, yoga, sea kayaking, walking, boat trips, fishing and island excursions. We would highly recommend the private sunset cruise around the Island, another magical way to view the sunset from turquoise waters.

If you are not keen to leave the island, a walk along West Beach as the sun sets is an
experience not to be missed — especially as a
beautiful beach bar lies in wait at the end of the walk, located just above the high-water mark on the northern end of West Beach.
