“I recently enjoyed a wonderful 2-night stay at Cheetah Plains in the Sabi Sands. And what an exceptional stay it was. A truly remarkable new-age safari experience with all the bells and whistles. Fit for the famous, one can be assured of a unique villa experience that is indulgent in the best ways. Dedicated to sustainability while remaining accommodating to fulfil all potential needs.
Each house pod, which comprises a main area and four rooms, comes with a compliment of staff to cater to your every whim. Your personal hospitality team is attentive and caring and comprises of a personal butler, a chef duo team, a pastry chef, a barman, a sommelier, a masseuse, a night watchman, a housekeeper, your own private guide, tracker and vehicle. Meals are shared around a big table, family-style, while being surrounded by some of the most interesting pieces of artwork. The main area has a chill room with TV, speakers for ambient music, cozy spots in every corner, and a lap pool for cooling off in the heat of summer.
The rooms come with every creature’s comfort imaginable, with a personal touch that moved me – a personalized pillowcase with embroidered initials as a take-home memory. The property has a state-of-the-art gym and a boutique curio that can only be visited by appointment. The boutique, named after the owner’s wife, boasts personally selected items that include diamond jewellery, beautiful leather bags, silk scarves, and interesting locally made items.
One of the most noticeable things on safari was the electric vehicle. Not even two minutes into the safari drive, I realized that I could hear the happy chirping of birds and the wind in the bushes, which made the experience even more immersive. The safari vehicles come equipped with seat warmers, binoculars, relevant books, blankets, storage for cameras, and even cup holders for take-away coffees or hot chocolate for those early safari drives. The safari experience did not disappoint, and in the hands of experienced ranger Civ and tracker Ed, we had some epic sightings.
Cheetah Plains is a unique property suitable for guests who enjoy a more modern safari in a comfortable and curated space and is perfect for close friends and family travelling together who want complete privacy, who appreciate the finer things in life and who seek ultimate comfort.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Dros and his remarkable team for an unforgettable stay and for truly making me feel like a movie star.”
