Geographically and culturally, Madagascar remains one of the most remote, untouched, and fascinating places on Earth, with 80% of its wildlife found nowhere else. This captivating island continues to unveil unknown species, making it truly unique.

Miavana by Time + Tide stands as Madagascar’s premier ultra-exclusive private island situated off the northeast coast, on 2,500 acres of wilderness, granting guests access to a vibrant house reef and to five uninhabited neighboring islands in the Indian Ocean.

Miavana’s secluded villas are nestled within expansive private gardens, boasting large decks, private pools, and direct access to a 2.5km beach. Each villa comes equipped with its own electric buggy and beach cruiser bikes for island exploration, complemented by a personal butler embodying a “martini-time” mentality—ready to arrange bespoke experiences ranging from floating breakfasts by the pool to stargazing.

Miavana by Time + Tide is deeply committed to the environment and neighboring communities. They employ an on-site conservation manager to oversee initiatives like the lemur conservation program and promote sustainable fishing practices in the region. Miavana exemplifies Africa’s new approach to eco-tourism, focusing on sensitive development, intelligent sustainability, regenerative travel, committed conservation, and community connection.

We recently had James Currie stay at the Instinct of the Mara situated in the Olderkesi Conservancy in Kenya. This is what he had to say about his stay:

“I recently returned from a visit to Instinct of the Mara’s new 2-bedroomed villa. The property is situated on the Olderkesi Conservancy, with beautiful walks on offer to supplement the daily game drives. Night drives are also possible on the conservancy. The area is stunningly beautiful, uncrowded and offers a very different perspective to the traditional view of the open Mara ecosystem. Towering forested slopes surround the camp, providing the setting for majestic sunsets complete with refreshing sundowners and shoulders of lamb traditionally cooked over fire-by-friction flames. A walk to the waterfall on the Sand river is highly recommended when water levels and conditions allow.

The villa itself is spacious and features high ceilings and a stunning private-use pool. Friendly and helpful staff cater to every need and contribute to a genuine family atmosphere.

Hot Tip: The new Instinct of the Mara Villa is a great combination with our Mara Expedition Camp.” – James Currie
