Wildlife Watch Moments between Moments – Wildlife Wednesday

It has been an exciting month across every single one of our Great Plains properties, as this week’s guests and guides’ videos and photographs show. Action everywhere. But I am pleased to see that some also took the opportunity to stop and look around at the reflections, water, and sunsets.

A safari is so much more than chasing sightings, and it always warms me to speak to guests who are as much in love with the moments between the moments. It is almost like a meditation, taking the time to reflect, absorb and be silent. There are so few opportunities or places to be silent in the world. Our philosophy when on safari is to dedicate as much time to these moments. If a sighting becomes too crowded, move away, find something precious of your own.

It seems to miss the point to come all the way to Africa to get away from the hustle and bustle and then jostle for position amongst a different crowd at a wildebeest crossing or around a lion, or cheetah, especially when there is another lion or cheetah across the plains, probably doing much more interesting, unaffected things.

Across the world, the impact of our heavy hands on just about everything in Nature is becoming increasingly evident.

So, it is with great warmth and appreciation that we offer these ‘away’ moments, where you can float in a realm of limited or even zero influence, with purpose, as our guides peel back the real gems, the real reason for a safari with Great Plains, the greatest gift to yourself and for your soul.
