It seems as if everywhere our guides turned this month, there were big cats, hyenas and painted dogs. These sightings appeared almost across each of our camps, which, of course, is no surprise.
We choose our camps strategically to develop and protect a spine of great locations with big cats and large predators at a time when those animals are under threat.
I am delighted with the increased sightings of lions and cheetahs during the day now, at ol Donyo Lodge in Kenya and Tembo Plains in Zimbabwe.
This week’s Wildlife Watch is another of our ‘snapshots’ of what our guides and guests are seeing, unfiltered and not my own work (although I wish I had seen the eland birth, the hyena takeovers, and many of the unique moments captured across the Great Plains camps and properties).
These updates are designed to answer the question that many of our guests and clients ask about what they are likely to see on their safaris.
We keep diligent records, and now these snapshot moments tell it all. What I am also seeing is an increase in the quality of imagery from our guides, which means they are also more qualified to train our guests on the cameras we provide in our Réserve- and Explorer-Collection safari camps.
