A signature recipe that feels true to our camp – A taste of Zimbabwean Hospitality
Inspired by the wild beauty of Zimbabwe, our Miso Mushroom Soup is a hearty and comforting dish that warms the heart and soul. It is more than a comforting bowl; it is a reflection of life in the Zambezi Valley and the shared spirit of our camp. This recipe combines the earthy flavours of locally sourced mushrooms with the rich, savoury taste of miso paste, reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage. Served around the bonfire or in our dining area, this soup warms the soul after a day of safari adventures or relaxing by the Zambezi River. The earthy flavours of the mushrooms evoke the wild beauty of the Lower Zambezi, creating a sense of connection to the land and its people.
Serving Suggestion
Serve hot, garnished with chopped thyme and a side of crusty bread or homemade seed crackers.
Connection to the Camp and the people
This dish reflects the spirit of the camp, where nature and local flavours come together. The earthy flavours of the mushrooms evoke emotions of the rugged landscape, while the miso paste adds a touch of Japanese-inspired sophistication, reflecting the camp’s global influences, just as life in the bush is meant to be experienced. Like the Zambezi itself, the dish represents the connection between land and people, tradition and innovation, and those who gather around the table.
