THE SAFARI THAT NEVER STOPS

Guests can enjoy the nonstop excitement of a safari from the comfort of one of these beautifully appointed lodges in South Africa and Zambia. By staying at these camps, you’ll have the chance to experience the wonders of the wild right at your doorstep, offering a uniquely intimate and thrilling wildlife encounter beyond the daily game drives or walking safaris on offer.

Sabi Sabi is fortunate to have well-utilized water sources that attract wildlife year-round. Each of their four luxurious lodges is strategically positioned to offer guests front-row seats to this natural spectacle. Between game drives, guests can enjoy a non-stop safari experience watching animals quench their thirst from the comfort of the lodge.

Whether you’re in one of the suites, on the Bush Lodge decks, the Selati Camp veranda, or soaking in the Earth Lodge pools, you’re perfectly positioned to witness interactions between species, like impalas skittering at sounds, playful young elephants, a giraffe lowering its neck or even sightings like a hyena cooling off, lions emerging as guests check in, or a hippo taking over the waterhole. The potential surprises are endless.

Jamala Madikwe, situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, offers a truly distinctive safari experience. After being recently rebuilt following a devastating fire, the lodge continues to feature a large waterhole right in front of the redesigned main area and guest suites, providing exceptional wildlife sightings. Guests can enjoy watching animals gather around this “natural stage” throughout the day. For a particularly immersive experience, we highly recommend viewing the wildlife from the rejuvenating swimming pool, drink in hand, while basking in the African sun. The pool deck also boasts an open-air bar with a selection of refreshing beverages to enhance your stay.

The “bird wall” in the main lodge, featuring metal flying birds, was sculpted by James Delaney himself. The birds are arranged in a fan-like formation across the walls, depicting swallows in various stages of flight and dance.
2024 GP Collective highlight Sungani

Sungani Lodge offers a unique nonstop safari experience in the remote and luxurious setting of South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Nestled in the far southern section of the park, this family-owned and operated lodge combines wild adventure with unmatched comfort. The lodge is perfectly positioned along a large lagoon adjacent to the Luangwa River, which retains water year-round, ensuring excellent game viewing, especially during the dry season. A highlight of Sungani is that even upon returning to camp guests can relax in comfort with a cup of coffee while observing a diverse array of wildlife right from their private space at the lodge.

One can observe hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birdlife from the tents, and there are often large herds of buffalo and even leopards that frequent the banks of the lagoon.

Tumi Khalo, one of our Senior Safari Designers, was recently invited to visit the Saxon Hotel to see all the new refurbishments and enhancements. Here’s what Tumi had to say about her experience:

“We recently conducted a site inspection at the Saxon Hotel, Spa, and Villa, a boutique hotel nestled in the affluent, tree-lined suburb of Sandhurst. The hotel boasts a total of 53 rooms, including 20 Luxury Rooms, 21 Villa Luxury Suites, 3 Presidential Suites, 8 Villa Presidential Suites, and the renowned Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite. The Saxon offers a wide range of amenities, from its serene Spa Sanctuary to various dining options within the hotel.

Following a recent refurbishment, the hotel now exudes an even more beautiful and elegant ambiance. We had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at the newly revamped Olive Bar, which offers stunning views of the infinity pool and garden. The food was delightful.

We’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of summer when the hotel plans to open all the glass doors from the Piano Lounge and Olive Bar onto the Terrace, creating a seamless, spacious area with diverse seating options, just as originally envisioned.”
